Presentation: Handbuilding Wall Baskets.
I will be demonstrating how to hand build two wall baskets using one cylinder. The cylinder can be hand built or wheel thrown, whichever you prefer, but the rest of the process will be done by hand building. I will demonstrate cutting and piecing together parts with slabs and other hand made components. I will also discuss different ways to finish the piece, ie., carving, glazing, and how to mount it. I started my ceramic studies in Asheville, North Carolina at both AB Tech Community College and at The Village Potters via their Independent Study program. I wanted to further my knowledge in the field of ceramics so I moved to Boone, North Carolina and received a BFA from Appalachian State University. I have continued to work from my home studio and was recently hired at Pullen Arts Center as an instructor.
