I make functional and decorative pottery using light stoneware and porcelain to show off colorful glazes and underglazes. Methods include carving, Mishima, marbling, resists, running flux glazes (with intentional glaze drips “caught” by stable glazes), and also crystalline glazes. For crystalline glazes, I often additionally acid etch or strike fire pieces to enhance the appearance of the crystals. I enjoy making pottery for different holidays and seasons, (pumpkins in autumn, Snowmen in winter) and this Spring I am using colorful underglazes to decorate with flowers and birds!
