Sam Oliver is a studio artist based in Tryon, North Carolina, known for her expertise in slab building and surface decorating techniques. She received her BFA from Winthrop University in 2013 and went on to complete a special student study in ceramics at the College of William and Mary, where she also researched 16th and 17th Century Earthenware Figures at The Decorative Arts Museum. Oliver has been an artist in residence at several prestigious institutions, including The Bascom Center for Arts, Brockway Center for Arts and Technology, Pocosin Arts, and Penland School of Craft. Her work has been featured in publications such as Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated.
