Richard Heiser Edenton Bay Clayworks
Slab Me Silly
I will be doing slab forms, in a couple different approaches… Slabs over forms, slab pieces built from patterns, combining forms, and carving, touching on Kurinuki that we have done over the years. There will also be decoration, firing techniques, included in the demonstration.
BIO:
BFA Western Carolina University 1974
MFA 1981 East Carolina University
I consider myself a potter and artist, making both utilitarian and non-utilitarian wares that I hope bring some joy into our daily lives. While I do not take myself seriously; I am serious about my work and the evolution of that work.
I have been an artist my entire life and a ceramist/potter for 50 of those years, along with other adventures.
Overall, my approach to clay and creativity is to have fun and liking what I do, no pretense, nothing overly deep or philosophical, or introspective. I hope people who use my work in their daily lives get a sense of joy from that use, whether they are handling it, trying to decide which mug to use for coffee or simply enjoying the space their piece occupies.
